Estate tax detracts from American Dream
Daily Press
The Daily Press article about the accomplishments (or lack thereof) of the Virginia legislature only reinforced my perception that the newspaper is a politically aligned periodical that panders to and promotes class and race envy.
It is a good thing that people who have worked hard at a better life for themselves and their kids may no longer be penalized by a confiscatory policy of estate taxes. It is an elitist attitude of government to deny our progeny the benefits of our hard work, thus requiring each generation to begin anew the quest for success.
The massive (legal) immigration of the late 1800s and early 1900s was primarily made up of people wanting a better life for themselves and their children. Estate taxes detract from the American dream still held by America's citizens and those who desire legal citizenship.
At its core, the estate tax takes away incentive to succeed and only serves to perpetuate a working class citizenry fated to toil for the purpose of generating tax revenue for the government.
